Tax Manager

We are seeking a collaborative and customer focused Tax Manager to join our team! In this role, you will lead a team of remote and hybrid accountants while providing essential tax support to small business owners. Your responsibilities will include ensuring accurate and timely tax filings, maintaining compliance with tax regulations, and developing strategies to optimize clients’ tax outcomes.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about nurturing staff development, driven by efficient processes, and focused on achieving results.

Reporting to the Director of Tax Services, you will be given the opportunity to mentor your team and build long lasting client relationships.

What does the Job Entail?

  • Team Leadership: Manage a team of 8-10 tax professionals, including in-house, remote, and offshore members. Oversee the effective distribution of work, ensure seamless coordination, and maintain a high standard of productivity and performance.

  • Training & Development: Ensure that all Tax Accountants are well-informed and thoroughly trained on new products, tax laws, procedures, customer needs, and company updates.

  • Quality Assurance: Safeguard the accuracy and integrity of our work by conducting timely reviews of tax returns, workpapers, and projections.

  • Compliance Management: Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of tax returns and related services, ensuring client compliance with all tax filing requirements.

  • Employee Engagement: Foster strong relationships with team members to promote retention. Support their professional growth by identifying and facilitating opportunities for career advancement within the company.

  • Client Interaction: Engage with clients to address and resolve issues, ensuring a positive experience and satisfaction with our services.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams and third-party partners on ad-hoc projects to support business objectives.

  • Complaint Resolution: Collaborate with the Retention and Billing teams to address and resolve any tax compliance-related complaints efficiently.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years experience of hands-on income tax experience in a corporate environment or public accounting firm

  • 2+ years of experience managing a team of accountants, must have experience managing remote employees

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

  • Thorough understanding of complex tax issues with a specialization in partnership tax compliance

  • Ability to problem solve and think both creatively and logically

  • Exceptional leadership and mentoring abilities, with a focus in fostering strong client and staff relationships

  • Excellent team-building skills including the ability keep team members engaged and motivated

  • Proven ability to identify and execute solutions to problems decisively

Preferred Requirements:

  • EA or CPA

  • In office preferred, open to remote.

Compensation Range: $90,000-115,000 annually.
